Frequently asked questions

No hype, no empty promises.

Is NexSpeak free?

NexSpeak's A1 level is completely free — no ads, no usage limits. You can access all A1 stories, flashcards, and tools without paying anything. From A2 onwards, access is premium: £6.99 per month or £49.99 per year (launch pricing temporarily available). There's no automatic subscription when you complete A1 — you decide if and when to continue.

Do apps actually work for learning English?

It depends on the app and how you use it. Some are designed to generate habit and engagement — not to actually teach a language — and the results reflect that. An app that teaches real English must be grounded in proven language acquisition principles: comprehensible input, spaced repetition, contextual exposure, and meaningful feedback. Gamified apps with streaks and points often produce a feeling of progress without real competence. NexSpeak is built on language acquisition principles, not gamification.

What level of English is NexSpeak for?

NexSpeak covers from A1 (no prior knowledge) to B2 (upper-intermediate), with 39 graded stories. A1 is completely free and designed to start from scratch. If you already have some English, the app gives you a two-minute level test to place you exactly where you are within the CEFR framework. C1 is in development and coming soon.

Free. No card. No commitments.
